Influential Characters Who Never Lived!
There are numerous people who have influenced our lives in some ways. They have created a niche for themselves and are remembered long after they have gone. However, there do exist some influential people who strangely never existed but still have left an impressionable mark in our memory.
1. Romeo and Juliet
This couple which has inspired many love stories and books strangely never existed. Respect, love and care for partner are the things we can learn from Romeo and Juliet.
2. Big Brother
Big Brother, a character created by George Orwell for his novel Nineteen Eighty-Four is an influential character and has been part of many social protests. All those who are part of social movements recognize Big Brother very well.
3. The Little Engine That Could
Optimism and hard work always lead to success. This is the message of this children’s tale that appeared in a book form in 1906 for the first time. This book has inspired many seminars and book though.
4. Deadalus and Icarus
Deadalus and Icarus was the mythological character which has inspired humans flying from one corner of Earth to the other in 24 hours. Deadalus built mechanical wings for his son Icarus and made him fly.
5. Rosie the Riveter
Rosie is the fictitious character which inspired women to get out of their traditional roles and work in factories. Rosie was the most influential character during the 2nd World War era and has inspired countless women ever since.
6. The Marlboro Man
This was an inspirational campaign with the tag line “Real Men Don’t Smoke”. The idea was to get them on Marlboro, a cigarette brand which has its distinct presence in the market. True to its idea, the campaign caught the chord and Marlboro cigarettes are immensely popular.
A hero with a shining gun riding a horse is what Cowboy is exactly. The character has inspired many books and Hollywood movies and seems to rule the mind of directors who constantly come up with a story having a cowboy in the main frame.
8. Robin Hood
Robin Hood is the character who took the wealth from the rich and gave it away to the poor. Though records are not clear on if Robin Hood existed in reality but some list this character as fictitious and have come up with movies having him as the central character.
A lifestyle queen, especially for the growing girls, Barbie was a rage in late 1980’s and still is. The doll has numerous appearances, be it a doctor or a housewife. Barbie has been inspiring countless generations and still does.
10. Santa Claus
Santa is perhaps the most recognizable of the characters that ever existed. He is very popular among children and gives away gifts during Christmas season.
